Time-resolved systems immunology reveals a late juncture linked to fatal COVID-19

What is the determinant of the severity of COVID-19? The longitudinal assessment of circulating proteins in peripheral blood and surface markers and transcriptome in single peripheral immune cells from COVID-19 patients was performed. It was revealed that a late immune response juncture (approximately 20 days after onset) characterized by the differential expression of several circulating proteins including IL-6, IL-17 and IP-10 plays an important role for the determination of recovery from COVID-19.
