Bat-origin RaTG13 coronavirus is the most phylogenetically related virus with SARS-CoV-2. The receptor-binding domain of spike protein of RatG13 virus can interact with ACE2 receptor from 23 species including human, cat, cow, rabbit, mouse and bats, partially sharing the virus susceptible species with SARS-CoV-2. An amino acid residue at position 501 of RatG13 spike is a key determinant for binding with ACE2 from multiple species. It was found that sera from SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals included neutralizing antibodies against RaTG13. Wild animal derived coronaviruses may be next concern possible to be resulted in the further pandemic.
