Epigenetics means the gene availability

Epigenetics is an important mechanism of gene regulation in cells. Although every cell in an individual has same gene information, why do the cell have different shapes and functions? The reason is because the cell can distinguish whether a gene should be used by using specific “marks”. Epigenetics is the system that controls such marks. Genes are encoded in DNA, and DNA interacts with proteins, histones. The gene marks are put in DNA and histones, by which, cells select available genes. The different distribution of the marks among cells results in the diversity of cellular shapes and functions.
