Memorial day of my first radioisotope experiment

I performed an experiment using a radioisotope at first. I used to long for this technique for a long time, because I can feel that I analyze creature in the molecular level exactly by using this method. This technique needs physical knowledge although I do a biological experiment. I feel I'm wise during concerning this experiment. Specifically, I use a radioisotope that is GTP which includes P32 in its phosphate. The radioisotope always radiates electrons during the beta decay. We can detect a tiny amount of substance by measuring this electron. I let viruses incorporate this GTP into viral RNA when viruses synthesize their RNA. I detect the de nove synthesized viral RNA by measuring this electron.
I should be always careful not to contaminate the radioisotope. But, because we can usually check the radioactive contamination by using a scintillation counter, I can feel easy about it compared with other experiments that don't have a sign showing a contamination. However, I was always nervous because radioisotope contamination is a huge matter.
