Transmission of SARS-CoV-2 via close contact and respiratory droplets among hACE2 mice

hACE2 transgenic mouse is a useful tool to study SARS-CoV-2 infection in an animal model. The SARS-CoV-2 intranasally inoculated mice were placed with uninfected mice to model the "close contact" infection. Additionally the infected mice were placed in a special cage that is designed to prevent a direct contact and allows only airborne transmission between the inoculated and naive mice. These two transmissible routes demonstrated to be effective for this virus spread. However, an aerozol transmission was not effective for this animal model using a bioaerosol generator system.
