Cross-reactive antibody response between SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV infections

The cross-reactivity of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV was examined. The antibodies derived from SARS-CoV-2 or SARS-CoV infected human patients or experimentally inoculated mice had shown the possibility to cross-react with spike protein of each virus. However, no efficient antibody that could neutralize infectious virus was found from either cases. The risk whether induced antibodies from SARS-CoV-2 infection cause antibody-dependent-enhancement (ADE) should be concerned.
