Bispecific IgG neutralizes SARS-CoV-2 variants and prevents escape in mice

A bispecific IgG-like molecule based on two different antibodies derived from COVID-19 convalescent donors recognizes the two independent sites of receptor binding domain of SARS-CoV-2 S protein. This molecule neutralizes SARS-CoV-2 variants and an escape mutant generated by the parental antibodies. By using a novel mouse model susceptible for SARS-CoV-2 infection produced by an adeno-associated virus expressing hACE2 infection with inhalation route to respiratory tract, the effectiveness of this therapeutic antibody-like molecule for SARS-CoV-2 infection was demonstrated.
