Integrative imaging reveals SARS-CoV-2-induced reshaping of subcellular morphologies

The disease associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection is caused not only by inflammation responses but also by virus-induced cell death. By using a human pulmonary epithelial Calu-3 cells, ultrastructural morphology of SARS-CoV-2 infection was studied. The viral replication was demonstrated to be occurred in double-membrane vesicles.SARS-CoV-2 induces cytoskeleton remodeling, and its pharmacological inhibition suppresses viral replication.
