Mink, cats and dogs are susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection. In the Netherlands, the surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 infection in cats and dogs in 10 mink farms that had experienced SARS-CoV-2 infection to minks was conducted. Throat and rectal swabs of 101 cats and 13 dogs were tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection using RT-PCR based detection. 3% cats and 8% dogs were positive for RT-PCR detection. Only feral cats were infected with SARS-CoV-2. It was considered that human-to-cat transmission did not happen, rather mink-to-cat transmission might be frequent.
