Methyltransferase-like 3 modulates severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 RNA N6-methyladenosine modification and replication

A methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing (MeRIP-Seq) revealed that SARS-CoV-2 RNA contains m6A modification. SARS-CoV-2 infection induces methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) expression and alters its distribution. The expression of METTL3 correlates inversely with the replication of SARS-CoV-2. Viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase interacts with the METTL3, and modulates sumoylation and ubiquitination of METTL3.
