RNA polymerase of mononegaviruses shows multiple function required for mRNA biogenesis

The RNA dependent RNA polymerase of single negative stranded RNA viruses possess all functions required for mRNA biogenesis, such as nucleotidyl transfer, mRNA capping, mRNA cap methylation and polyadenylation. This fact is simply verified by an in vitro experiment using recombinant viral polymerase and RNA template. By performing the in vitro transcription, we can identify multiple viral mRNAs that contains mRNA cap and poly A tail.
