Auto-antibodies against type I IFNs in patients with life-threatening COVID-19

 At least 101 of 987 COVID-19-associted life-threatening pneumonia patients had neutralizing IgG auto-antibodies against IFN-ω, α, or both. These auto-antibodies were not found in 663 individuals with asymptomatic or mild SARS-CoV-2 infection. These were present in only 4 of 1227 healthy individuals, whose blood samples were collected before the emergence of COVID-19. Most of patients who have the auto-antibodies were men.
