Multi-organ proteomic landscape of COVID-19 autopsies

A proteomic analysis of 144 autopsy samples from seven organ in 19 COVID-19 patients was conducted. Cathepsin L1, which is a lysosomal protease playing a major role in intracellular protein catabolism, was found to be upregulated in the lung tissue. A hyperinflammation and dysregulation of glucose and fatty acid metabolism as well as hypoxia, angiogenesis, blood coagulation and fibrosis were found in multiple organs. The possible abnormality of male reproductive function was also proposed.
