Multi-omics analysis of respiratory specimen characterizes baseline molecule determinants associated with SARS-CoV-2 outcome

A multi-omic approach using human respiratory specimens such as oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swabs of SARS-CoV-2 positive cases revealed that increased basal level of MX1 (MX dynamin-like GTPase 1) and WARS (tryptophan-tRNA ligase) correlated with SARS-CoV-2 infection and its outcome. Increased respiratory pathogens (Burkholderiales and Klebsiella pneumonia) and decreased lactobacillus salivarius were also identified to be correlated with the disease severity.
