Acute myocarditis with severe fever and thrombocytopenia syndrome

A man suspected to be severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) after a tick bite, was hospitalized with fever, pancytopenia and cardiogenic shock. An endomyocardial biopsy in the convalescent phase revealed a myocardial inflammation with increased lymphocytes and macrophages. This is the first report of mycocarditis associated with SFTS viral infection.
